(Scroll down for what ?!)
Nice to meet you !
My name's Loïc !
And this is my Design
An Holographic Universe
I've always been interested in everything that relates to the cosmos, universe or space. Before starting that project I watched the entire TV-show : "Cosmos" staring Neil Degrasse Tyson. It is awesomely realized, the opening of each episode is amazing, poetical and impressive.
At the same time I discovered Trapcode Suite on After Effect, and especially Trapcode Form. Using different layer maps and displacement maps, I ended up with different galaxies which I edited on Photoshop.
For the first series which I called "A Colorfull Holographic Universe" I simply edited the hue and saturation.
For the second one : "An Inked Holographic Universe" is the result of the posterize effect.
Both are really different though they come from the same project, I really enjoyed creating them and I hope they will make you dream as well.
A Colored Holographic Universe
An Inked Holographic Universe
During my stay in Canada, I searched with a friend where we could possibly observe aurora borealis in Québec. We found that the best place would be Nunavik which is a territory of Quebec. We visited Nunavik's website and thought that we could possibly redesign it.
That's what we /home up with.✖

Made on cssgradients.com, it’s a powerful tool that allows to design gradients easily. You first design them like you would do in illustrator, and then the application convert it to a css code.
Each gradient is made of 2 colors and follows a diagonal which begins in the top left corner and end at the bottom right. The color which ends a gradient is the color which begins the next one.
- Gloucester is used for the titles h1 and h2
- Open sans
- several weight used
- bold for the quotations under the titles
- semi-bold for the title of each part
- regular for the body text and the menu.
We decided to use that design to follow a trend and bring our own touch to it. We created a svg shape with few polygons that we used for every illustration. Thanks to the symbol sprayer tool we modified the size, opacity, orientation and spacement of the svg symbol. This allowed us to make similar illustration in no time very easily. Each illustration embodies the part that it is used for. We added a few discreet animations to improve the UX.
The parallax effect is very smooth and do not disturb the reading or the research of information for the user. The scroll was a very important aspect for us, we wanted to have a two directional smooth scroll.
We developed an animation for the icon of the menu, when it’s not active the icon looks like a ordinary menu icon, but when you click on it, it transforms into the main logo that we designed. The entire animation is inline HTML. When you activate the menu the nav appears and the background blurs. Underneath each link of the nav, there is a “wireframe design” animated thanks to svg properties such as stroke-offset and opacity. When you hover a link the animation is more visible.
We wanted to put more pictures of Nunavik but we didn’t find some with a good resolution. For a future upload we could even consider a video that shows Nunavik countryside.
The SPA works as “slides”, each page takes all the space of the screen and the scroll automatically redirect to the next page. We used a template call “one page scroll” to achieve this result, it was the most convenient way to do it.
Urban Muse Records
Urban Muse Records is an association based in Paris and Montreal which aims to promote urban culture and music.
Pantone (la) Creation is the first jam event that they created. They wanted something refined. So I came up with that audio spectrum kind of design.✖
Pantone (la) Création
That work had size constraints because it was supposed to fit the dimension of a Facebook Cover Picture (851x315). I did it entirely within Illustrator, there are only 3 colors, blue white and black. This was a music event so I chose to design a "sound spectrum" kind of shape thanks to the "Blend Tool".
I created 2 lines, one with some cruves at the top an the other with the same number of points but straight. Then I duplicated the result and flipped it horizontaly.
The shape fades from the title to embodie its meaning "(la) Création", as it was creating by the work "creation".
The gradient shadow was a request from the client.
It's a very simple effect to create within Photoshop.
My design is created with 4 clipping masks: an octagon, a square and two triangles.
So the composition contain 9 layers : the initial picture at the back, 4 clipping masks + 4 duplicated initial pictured.✖
- First you have to take a nice HQ picture (most of the time it's a landscape)
- Open it in Photoshop
- Add some shapes on other layers
- Duplicate the inital picture and create clipping masks out of the shapes. ( one picture = one clipping mask)
- Then resize, rotate, move or edit the duplicated pictures.
Vanier Food Guide
This is a school project that I realized during my studies at Vanier College in Montreal.
The idea was to give advice and present all the food facilities that the school had in order to prepare and inform students and future students.
I was inspired by a lot of Montreal's restaurant, a lot of them have their menu written on a chalkboard and I liked it a lot so I decided to use that style for my food guide.✖
What's for lunch ?
This is a school projet where I had to design a newspaper for kids, we had to design it with vibrant colors, funny images and simple layout. The text was already written.✖
6 Words Stories
6 words stories are called "flash fiction" or "short-short stories", the principle is to catch the reader's attention in only 6 words, but you have to create an interrogation with these words, this musn't be a statement.✖
I was there, you were here.
I can't choose which one of the two is the better so here they are.
Hear this out !
This is the chanel where, my brother and I, post our songs' cover.
This is where I put my After Effect creations or piano covers.
